Marcadis Singer PA are debt collection attorneys in the state of Florida.   Florida is a beautiful place to live and work, it was one of the first to recover from the recession with a strong economy.    It is the state of beaches and the everglades and theme parks.  What could possibly go wrong?

Well, we have hurricanes!   We are talking tropical storms, not just the University of Miami Hurricanes, or the Tampa Bay Storm!

The weather channel is predicting a more active than average hurricane season this year, and we have already seen a fair amount of tropical action for so early in the season.  2016 is expected to be the most active hurricane season since 2012.  We are projected to experience 14 tropical storms, 8 hurricanes and 3 major hurricanes.   On average, we see 12 storms, 6 hurricanes and 3 large (category 3 or greater) hurricanes.   2016 is shaping up to be a bit more active than average.

We urge all our business associates, friends and staff to take prudent precautions.  Have gas on hand, if the power goes out, Gas Pumps do not work.  Have cash on hand, for the same reason – ATM’s do not work if the power is out, and in the  past stores have not accepted credit and debit cards when the power is out.   Have food and water on hand, that is food that does not require refrigeration, and will not spoil.

Have a plan, know what you will do in a hurricane before the storm, not as the storm approaches.

The Tampa Bay area created a FICTIONAL video to help its residence see what would happen to Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg if a major hurricane hit.   Tampa has not seen a direct hurricane hit for decades, and many of us have been lulled into a false sense of security.   We would urge you to watch this video, realize that it could happen, and could happen here.   Please be prepared, and then, enjoy this beautiful state as it should be.
