The first ever legal harvest of Medical Marijuana in Florida has happened in Tallahassee Florida.
Under tight security, and incredible secrecy, the first ever crop of medical marijuana has been harvested and cured in Tallahassee Florida.
The first home delivery has also happened, with a 441 gram bag of frozen marijuana being delivered to Hudson Fl. The unnamed patient is suffering from dystonia, a condition characterized by chronic muscle spasms and seizures.
The crop was grown and harvested by Surterra Therapeutics, one of 6 authorized marijuana growing facilities since the passing of legislation allowing the growing and dispensing of “Charlotte’s Web” a strain of marijuana low in THC, but high in CBD. Charlotte’s Web does not give the patient the high that is associated with smoking recreational marijuana, however it is thought to have many applications in the treatment of multiple chronic medical conditions.
While Marijuana is still illegal federally, the Federal Government has adopted a hands off policy for those states that have voted to make both medical and recreational marijuana legal.
Later this year, Florida will be voting on expanding medical marijuana. Recreational marijuana use is allowed in Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Alaska and the District of Columbia and is on the ballot in nearly a half dozen states this fall, including California.
