Florida Judicial Funding Priorities
Florida Judicial Priorities

Late last week, each chamber released its initial budget recommendations. Many of the judicial branch funding priorities are contained in at least one, and sometimes both, of the proposals. Recommendations include:

  • No reductions to the state courts system’s operating budget.
  • No funds for additional judgeships in either proposal.
  • No funds for the trial court technology strategic plan in either proposal.
  • $1 million for the Charlotte County Justice Center in the Senate proposal.
  • $200,000 for the Liberty County Courthouse in the Senate proposal.
  • $150,000 for a veterans’ court in Escambia county in the Senate proposal.
  • Funding for the 3rd DCA Courthouse security and ADA projects, and for 4th DCA Courthouse construction, in both proposals (though the amounts differ).
  • $2.9 million for case management resources in the House proposal.
  • $250,000 for the 11th Circuit criminal mental health project in the House proposal.

Marcadis Singer PA  Florida Debt Collection Attorneys, will continue to keep an eye on these judicial funding priorities.
