Domestication of a Foreign Judgement – Recognition and Enforcement

An out-of-country foreign judgment that meets the standards of s. 55.603 is conclusive between the parties to the extent that it allows or rejects recovery of an amount of money, except as provided in s. 55.605. The following series outlines the Florida Statutes and the procedures for recognizing and enforcing an out-of-country foreign judgment.  This series is specific to enforcing a judgment from a foreign country.  Enforcing a judgment from a state other than Florida is also known as domesticating a foreign judgment, however, that is not the focus of this series.
