Collecting a judgment –

If you win a court-ordered sum but have difficulty collecting the full amount, it would be helpful to do an asset search to get more information.

First: The first thing you want to know is the person’s income and what they own. He/She should own property. Use the Appraiser’s office and the Registrar of Deeds in your county to determine this.

Beware: Courts do not confirm the defendant’s possessions or properties in order to form a judgment. After this information is known, the defendant is ordered to give up these possessions. A constable or deputy may be appointed to get these possessions for you.
